Wintry Mix Arrived, Snow Possible For Super Bowl Sunday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A troublesome mix of precipitation moved into our area Thursday morning.

According to KDKA-TV Meteorologist Dennis Bowman, a mix of precipitation arrived by mid to late morning. Surface temperatures were still cold enough, some icing took place in the area before the precipitation will transition to rain for the afternoon.

A Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect for the viewing area until 4 p.m.

The high today will be 38 degrees. Tonight, the rain goes back to a mix and then snow with less than 1 inch in the southwestern Pennsylvania area. Check here for the latest weather updates and advisories.

A total of 1-3 inches will fall near Interstate 80 and as much as 2-4 inches in the ridges to our east. The low will be near 22 degrees overnight.

Light snow showers are in the offing for Friday as the temperature tumbles during the day to a low of 6 degrees tomorrow night.

It looks to be dry and mostly sunny on Saturday with a high of 25 degrees.

On Super Bowl Sunday, there is a potential for snow.

A system could graze us with light snow, or if the path is farther north, heavier snow for Sunday night into Monday morning.

We will be watching this system very closely over the next few days.
