Police Seek Masked Suspect In Mars Bank Robbery

MARS (KDKA) -- Authorities are searching for a masked man who held up a bank in Mars last week.

The robbery happened last Friday around 5 p.m. at the Fifth Third Bank on Sheraton Drive.

According to the FBI, the suspect put on a black cloth mask in the foyer and then entered the bank, telling the tellers he had a gun but never showing one.

Investigators say he pulled a black or dark blue reusable shopping bag from under his shirt and ordered the tellers to fill it. Then, officials say he ordered them both to lay on the ground until he left.

He was last seen heading towards the back of a nearby Max & Erma's Restaurant.

The suspect is described as a white male, five-feet-10-inches to 6-feet tall, 180 to 190 pounds. He was wearing a dark-blue, long-sleeved dress shirt, light-blue, baggie jeans and black gloves.

One teller was able to see part of the robber's face.

She said he had a shaved head, a receding hairline and no facial hair.

Authorities say he may have gotten away in a white sedan, but that has not yet been confirmed.

Anyone with information in the suspect is asked to call the Pittsburgh FBI tip line or the Northern Regional Police Department.
