PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The victims of Saturday’s shooting at the Monroeville Mall are continuing to recover.

Three people were shot during the incident, including two men and a woman.

Only one of the men was the intended target, the other two were innocent bystanders, police said Saturday night.

According to the criminal complaint, 20-year-old Davon Jones was the intended target. He was shot in the left flank and buttocks.

Also injured were 47-year-old Mary Singleton and 48-year-old Thomas Singleton. Thomas was hit in the back of the leg, hitting an artery.

“One of the victims had a tourniquet applied by the first people who responded and that was the police,” said Dr. Chris Kaufman at Forbes Hospital. “I think that saved the life of one of these three victims.”

Thomas’ wife, Mary, was hit in the shoulder. Police say the couple was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But at the time of the shooting, without knowing where the suspect was, the hospital locked down the entire ER area.

“We secured all of our entrances and even the employees couldn’t get in or out of the hospital unless they checked with security,” said Kaufman.

Police have since arrested 17-year-old Tarod Thornhill in connection to the shooting.
