Get Marty: Man Says City Snow Plow Crashed Into His Business Van

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Shadyside man who is taking on the City of Pittsburgh called on Get Marty.

Jerry Montesano says he saw a Pittsburgh Public Works salt truck plow into his business van back on Jan. 3.

"Kinda like a train would hit a car. It was that loud," says Montesano.

Montesano says the truck continued down the street after it hit his van.

Montesano called Pittsburgh Police and then he called Get Marty.

Criminal defense attorney Phil DiLucente, who is representing Montesano, says there are two problems here.

"Number one, he has the right to sue the city," says DiLucente. "Also, when you hit a vehicle you must stop. It's criminal conduct not to stop."

The city immediately started asking questions and initiated a police investigation. The mayor's office is also involved, in order to get the issue resolved.

Truth is, right now the mayor's office says they cannot find a city vehicle at the scene of the accident.

The mayor's office says GPS tracking devices do not have a vehicle there. However, Pittsburgh Police continue to investigate.

Meanwhile, Montesano's business van has more than $6,000 in damage. That's why Montesano says he will sue the city if he has to.

"At least get my deductible back and cover the rental. I mean, it's only fair," he added.
