Robert Morris Edges St. Francis (Pa.) 71-70 In OT

MOON TOWNSHIP (93-7 The Fan) - Despite one of the worst starts to an overtime that RMU head Coach Andy Toole had ever seen, the Colonials (16-14, 12-6 NEC) fought until the end in to win a 71-70 nail-biter over Saint Francis University.

"That was an absolutely wild and incredible game," Toole said.

The Red Flash, (15-14, 9-9 NEC) had an electric start to overtime scoring 8 unanswered points in the first 1:37, including a pair of huge dunks in transition. Just when it seemed like SFU had completely stolen the momentum of the game with a 67-59 lead with only 2:34 left, RMU went off.

Rodney Pryor hit a 3-pointer with 2:26 left and a couple of big rebounds and defensive stops led to easy buckets for the Colonials.

"All of a sudden the momentum was on our side and it's a 2-point game within a matter of 5 seconds and our guys obviously fed off of it," Toole said.

With just 4.1 seconds left on the clock in overtime, Robert Morris was up by 2 points, when SFU's Greg Brown drove to the hoop an almost tied the game. But, Lucky Jones stepped in front of Brown just in time to take a monstrous charge, the bucket was called no good and RMU gained back possession of the ball.

"They had to get a bucket fast and Brown isn't really a pull up jump shot type of guy and I just wanted to step in and make a senior play," Jones said. "I knew it was going to be a charge, I had the position and I just took it in the chest."

Following the impressive defensive play by Jones, he was fouled and made both free throws to give RMU a 71-67 lead with 3 seconds left to seal the win on Senior Day at The Sewall Center.

"I'm proud of our guys the way they continued to play and fight and try and do whatever they could to get back into the game to start the second half, get the game to overtime, down 8 nothing in overtime and figure out a way to win it," Toole said.

Pryor led RMU with 22 points and Jones had 20. Elija Minnie pulled down 12 rebounds which proved to be a big factor in the game with many of the boards leading to easy baskets.

Earl Brown scored a game-high 30 points for SFU (15-14, 9-9).
