Man Charged In Fatal Road Rage Shooting Sentenced To 12 1/2 To 25 Years

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man charged in the shooting death of another man in a road rage incident nearly four years ago will serve 12-and-a-half to 25 years in prison.

Markus Solomon was sentenced Thursday after he was found guilty of gunning down 31-year-old Gordon Reese, Jr. in August 2011.

Police say Reese was shot after he yelled at a speeding driver to slow down.

The driver stopped and got out of his car. The two exchanged words and Reese was shot in the chest.

The suspect, then 19-year-old Markus Solomon, admitted to the shooting. Solomon told police he saw something shiny in Reese's hand and he fired the fatal shot.

"You can never bring him back," said Reese's aunt, Georgianne Melizia. "Twelve to 25 is not enough, it's not gonna help."

"I'm not happy with it," said Reese' sister, Christina Larson. "Anything to keep him off the streets."

Solomon was found guilty of third degree murder.

But his lawyers say Solomon is remorseful.

"He's young, he's gonna have to live with it," said defense attorney Dennis Elisco. "He's 22, he feels remorse ... doesn't compare with the family's loss."
