1 Shot, 1 In Custody In New Kensington Tattoo Parlor Shooting

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) -- The owner of a New Kensington tattoo parlor was listed in critical condition Friday night after a shooting at his business.

Kevin Croney, 43, of Allegheny Township, owns the True Image Tattoo Parlor on Freeport Street. He suffered a gunshot went to the face late Friday afternoon.

The New Kensington police chief told KDKA's Kym Gable at a news conference that Croney and 44-year-old Christopher Patterson of Vandergrift got into an argument in the rear of the tattoo parlor Friday afternoon.

Several witnesses told investigators they tried to separate the two men.

"The argument became physical," said Chief Tom Klawnski. "At one point, someone separated them. They began arguing, started fighting again, and then according to eyewitnesses, Patterson pulled a handgun and shot Croney. At this point, Croney's at Allegheny Valley Hospital with a gunshot wound, I believe, to the face."

The chief says Patterson is accused of shooting Croney at close range.

The victim was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital.

The suspect was apprehended at the scene and hauled into police headquarters.

Patterson was expected to be arraigned late Friday night on charges of attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
