RMU Excited For NCAA Tournament Opportunity

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Robert Morris University locked up its NCAA Tournament bid last week by winning its conference tournament.

But, they didn't know who they would play until last night.

"These guys will remember this for the rest of their lives. Now, it becomes real. Every time you get a chance to hear your name on Selection Sunday, it is a lifelong memory. These guys have been walking on cloud nine the past three or four days and now it kind of becomes real," RMU Head Coach Andy Toole said.

The Colonials knew they were in after winning the NEC Tournament. Sunday night, they learned they will meet North Florida in a play-in game.

"To actually be in the NCAA Tournament, it's a great accomplishment. Now, we get to play another talented mid-major program against North Florida. So, we just [have to] make sure we bring it on Wednesday and just go out there and have fun," Lucky Jones said.

The last two seasons, Robert Morris wasn't quite good enough to make the NCAA Tournament, but they stunned the so called experts by bouncing a couple of college basketball's big boys in another post-season tournament.

"All of our post-season experiences we will take something from. You know, the last two NIT's -- beating Kentucky two years ago beating Saint John's last year, you know being in those big game environments against good teams," Toole said.

If they beat North Florida Wednesday night in Dayton, it's on to Charlotte Friday night to square off against top seeded Duke.

"The light is on. You know it is going to be a great atmosphere. You know, let's just go out there and shock the world again," Jones said.
