Police Investigating After Dog Found Dead In Trash Bag

SOUTH CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) – Police in Fayette County are investigating after a dead dog was found in a trash bag along the side of the road.

According to a Herald-Standard report, neighbors discovered the 2-year-old Olde English Bulldog Monday on First Street in South Connellsville.

"She was cleaning up leaves, doing some yard work and dumping leaves over here and discovered a plastic bag," said a local official. "She at first thought it was a pillow inside, and when she saw that there was fur sticking out, she called to her neighbor to come over and help her because it was a large bag. And he came over and what they discovered was this dog inside."

It's unclear how the dog was killed, but a veterinarian is expected to conduct a necropsy.

The owner has been identified though the dog's tattooed identification. Police also have a possible suspect, but no arrests have been made.

This comes on the heels of a pit bull being shot near the railroad tracks in Uniontown last week.

Police are looking at surveillance video from nearby businesses in that particular incident.
