Andy Toole Looks Ahead To The Sweet 16 & Beyond

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Robert Morris men's basketball head coach Andy Toole paid a visit to "The Fan Morning Show" Thursday and spent an hour hanging out in the studio, previewing the Sweet Sixteen, discussing the state of his program and having some fun with the hosts.

During the first segment, Toole broke down some of the Sweet 16 action that begins today.

Toole said West Virginia's press might cause issues for Kentucky Thursday night because the Wildcats haven't faced something quite like it this season.

"Tennessee is probably the only team they've played this year that has a similar style," Toole said. "Tennessee presses virtually non-stop. But, in the half-court, Tennessee will play zone versus man and they're definitely not as talented as West Virginia is."

In the second segment, Toole talked about a few assorted college basketball topics, including John Calipari potentially returning to the NBA, proposals for a shorter shot clock, and college athletes playing multiple sports.

During that segment, Toole outlined some of the pros and cons of taking an NBA coaching job over a college coaching job.

"The lure is trying to challenge yourself about some of the best coaches in the world and coach some of the best players in the world, and seeing if you can accomplish that, and how successful you can be at that," Toole said. "But, there's an excitement and an energy to college basketball that I think is a little bit different than the NBA across the board. From the highest levels of college basketball to the lowest levels of college basketball, there's something unique about that that makes it special."

The third segment featured Toole offering up a custom-tailored pep talk for Jim Colony.

And in the final segment, they went off-topic a bit and talked about baseball and the similarities between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh as sports towns.
