Andy Toole: Right Move To Stay At RMU

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Robert Morris men's basketball head coach Andy Toole talked about his decision to stay at RMU with Chris Mack.

"It's a compliment to our program and to our staff and to everybody when your name gets mentioned for different things. But, when you kind of weigh all of the factors and you look at the excitement we have going on at Robert Morris, and things that hopefully are to come, and your family and a lot of different factors, I just think it was the right move and it made a lot of sense for me to stay, and we're excited about continuing to build the program," Toole said.

Toole told Mack that being mentioned for coaching openings isn't as much fun as fans would think.

"It's very stressful. You're trying to make sure you make the right decision and trying to make sure that you can do the things that you want to do with your career and make the right moves. At 34, I think you have to be cautious about some moves because there's a lot of jobs out there that people don't have success at and haven't had success for a long time. So, you want to make sure if you ever do have the opportunity to go somewhere or you do decide to go somewhere, that it's the right place," Toole said.

Toole said that he has grown as a coach during his five-year tenure with the Colonials.

"I think I'm better at my job, I think I coach better, I think I understand what goes on better," Toole said. "Now, you understand more about what goes into a program and how to build a program, and how to maybe create more interest in the program. Obviously, success does that. But, we're constantly trying to raise the bar."
