Animal Cruelty Suspect Tells Police He Can Beat 4-Week-Old Puppy Anytime He Wants

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Pittsburgh couple was arrested by police Tuesday after neighbors complained that their pit bull puppy appeared to be mistreated.

The 4-week-old puppy, described as shaking uncontrollably, was malnourished and suffering from hypothermia.

Police said they thought the dog had been outside for a long period of time.

The puppy is now recovering at Animal Friends.

Kamal Floyd and Mary Ann Austin were arrested at their home on Renwick Street in the Allentown neighborhood.

When police showed up at the house, officers said Floyd appeared belligerent, cursed at them and told them he paid $120 for the dog, and he could beat it anytime he wanted to.
