Pierre McGuire: Flyers Trying To Be More Disciplined, But Want To Hurt Pens

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – NBC Sports NHL analyst Pierre McGuire joined "The Fan Morning Show" Wednesday to talk about the Penguins as they prepare to face the Flyers on NBC Sports Network's "Wednesday Night Rivalry" broadcast, which he will be a part of.

Pierre doesn't think that the Flyers will be going out of their way to make a sideshow out of tonight's game.

"That's not the way their team is built right now," McGuire said. "We're not going back to 1970s and the Broad Street Bullies. They're just not built that way. They've actually tried to play a real disciplined game. Now, do they have some players that will run around and hit? Absolutely. Zac Rinaldo's one of them."

However, Pierre can absolutely see the Flyers making a special effort to cause trouble tonight.

"I can tell you right now that they look at the schedule and they say, you know what, how can we inflict pain on the Pittsburgh Penguins?" McGuire said. "Well, they play them twice in the next five games. That's how you inflict pain- you beat them. The Pittsburgh Penguins understand that. I think they also understand how Philadelphia tries to get in their heads with a lot of verbal jousting, rather than physical jousting. Pittsburgh's just going to have to stay away from that. Don't retaliate, just go out there and play."
