Analyzing Bell's Suspension And Impact On Steelers Schedule

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Missing running back Le'Veon Bell for any period of time will hurt the Steelers, as we saw in their playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens last year.

A report on the games Bell could be missing due to his three-game suspension shows this could spell disaster for the Steelers.

CBSSports.com NFL Writer Will Brinson points out that the Steelers are a candidate to play the New England Patriots in the season opener, meaning they would have to take on the defending Super Bowl champions without one of their biggest offensive weapons.

Brinson also points out how tough the Steelers schedule will likely be overall next year, as they take on the NFC West and AFC West as well as a home match-up with the Indianapolis Colts.

Other non-divisional opponents on the Steelers' schedule next year include the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders, a team that has given the Steelers fits in recent years.

Bell will appeal his suspension and try to get it down to two games, but the damage could still be done by the time Bell returns.

With Bell out, the Steelers will turn to free-agent signee DeAngelo Williams to take over their running back duties.
