It looks like the weather has finally turned in a positive direction after a long, harsh winter.
Warmer weather means baseball is back and the Pirates are looking to improve upon back-to-back postseason performances.
The players will be quick to credit the fans as giving them a spark throughout the season.
As a result, the team has been making some changes to PNC Park ahead of the season that will surely enhance the experience for the fans.
With the home-opener coming up on April 13, here’s a look at some of the more notable changes this season:
Left Field Terraces & The Porch
It will be located behind the left field bleachers, and will connect the Upper Bleacher section to the Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club.
According to the Pirates, this will be a standing room only area.
Additionally, a separate terrace named “The Porch” will overlook centerfield. Seating will be for groups on a game by game basis with barstool and sofa-style seating.
A new bar has been added under the left field rotunda. The bar will feature a variety of beers, including craft brews.
The area features a 40-foot long bar and plenty of room to watch the game on the field. You can also watch the game on any of the nine televisions in the bar area.
A new full service bar is also being added to the 300 level concourse.
According to a press release, “The 28-foot long outdoor bar will be located in the concourse behind section 316.”
Fans can order a variety of beer, wine and mixed drinks. Barstool seating and flat screen televisions are other features of this new bar.
New Food Items
Last week, Aramark unveiled some new menu items for the 2015 season.
It includes the “Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club Bacon Cheeseburger,” topped with pulled pork, jalapeno bacon and more.
There will also be a “Gluten Free Burrito.”
As well as a new “Cuban Pretzel Dog,” topped with ham, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard and pickles on a pretzel hoagie roll.
And finally, “Riverwalk Fries,” with jalapeno cheese sauce, bacon and sour cream.
