Weekly Vesla 360 Injury Report

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - In his weekly Vesla 360 Injury Report, former Pirates trainer Frank Velasquez talks with Andrew Fillipponi about some of the injuries affecting some of Pittsburgh's professional athletes.

Velasquez focuses first on the Kris Letang concussion and what he would suggest in terms of rehab.

Letang has been working out on a stationary bike according to the Penguins, and Velasquez talks about why that's the preferred method of rehab for concussions.

"It's a very low intensity activity," Velasquez said. "So when you start, your symptoms subside, whatever your symptoms are, you wait for those to go away and then you have a phase or a step process back into your level of activity, whatever that is."

The big question pertaining to Letang's concussion though, is whether or not he'll be able to get back in time for the playoffs, and Velasquez gives us an idea of how you determine when a player is ready to return to action.
