Ike Taylor On Retirement: 'I Was Waiting On Troy Regardless'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor joined the list of players announcing their retirement this year and then talked with Joe Starkey about his career and why he decided to hang it up now.
"I was kind of going through this decision during the season after I got hurt," Taylor said. "When my young guys started to play and I started to see them grow and I was more happy for them growing than me playing, that decision kind of made itself."
Taylor also said part of the timing of his decision had to do with Troy Polamalu deciding to retire now since they came in the league together.
"If Troy was playing two more years and I wasn't, I was waiting on Troy regardless. That's what I felt like I owed to him as a partner that came in together."
Taylor also looked back on his 12-year career and talked about the best and worst moments of his career.
"My best moment was winning my first Super Bowl, my worst moment was last year coming back too early. If I could do it all again, I'd take some time coming back."
