PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An Allegheny County Sheriff’s Deputy was hospitalized after being attacked by a juvenile female at the family court.

Officials say the deputy was responding to a 17-year-old teen who was “being highly disruptive and acting in a disorderly manner.”

The teen girl then punched the deputy in the face and hit her several times, until other deputies arrived to help get the girl under control.

The teen was later taken the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center.

The deputy was taken to the hospital and treated. She has since been released.

Police say the deputy’s a 14-year veteran of the force and will continue to recover before she returns to work.
