American Eagle Closing Warrendale Distribution Center

WARRENDALE, Pa. (AP) - American Eagle Outfitters says it will close a distribution center where 200 people work north of Pittsburgh at the end of July.

The company announced two years ago that it planned to close the facility at the Thorn Hill Industrial Park in Warrendale. But the Butler Eagle reports the company has now pinpointed when that will occur.

The company is giving workers a chance to transfer to another distribution center in eastern Pennsylvania or other facilities in the company.

The 500,000-square-foot distribution center opened in 2007, but the company says it's being closed because more people are shopping online and the center couldn't be changed enough to meet that demand.

The company is offering severance benefits and a transition package to the displaced workers.
