PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Pittsburgh homicide detectives are looking into a deadly shooting inside a Hill District bar.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 2400-block of Webster Avenue, inside of the Cornfield Bar.

According to emergency dispatchers, when police arrived they found one man had been shot in the arm and the other had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back.

“When our officers got inside, one of the victims was on the floor in front of the bar – the actual physical bar. The second victim was behind the bar. He received a minor shot in the arm and a graze wound in, I believe, the right hip,” Pittsburgh Police Spokesperson Sonya Toler said.

The man shot in the back was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. He has been identified as 35-year-old Trula Dobbins.

The other 37-year-old victim was wounded in the elbow area. He was last listed in stable condition at UPMC Mercy Hospital.

A man who was inside the bar but left just before the gunfire erupted said there were six to 10 customers inside the bar when he walked out and everything seemed to be fine.

Police say an argument inside the bar led to the gunfire.

Initially, they issued a “Be On The Lookout” for a silver Lincoln MKZ with tinted windows. Possibly driven by a light-skinned black man. Now, police don’t believe that man is a suspect.

“You can imagine, if you were in that situation inside a closed bar, shots being fired and a lot of people were fleeing,” Toler said.

Back in 2003, a 22-year-old Hill District man was shot during an argument and killed in the same bar while celebrating his birthday.

With this most recent shooting, police say the Nuisance Bar Task Force will most likely become part of the investigation.

Anyone with any information on this shooting, or the whereabouts of the suspect or suspects, is being urged to call the Pittsburgh Police Homicide Unit.
