Pirates Place Andrew Lambo On Disabled List

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Hitting just .040 in 27 plate appearances, the Pirates have placed outfielder Andrew Lambo on the disabled list due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

The move comes retroactive to May 4.

In order to fill Lambo's spot on the 25-man roster, the Pirates have recalled switch-hitting utility man Steve Lombardozzi.

Lombardozzi currently has the second highest batting average in the International League at .379 while making eight appearances in right field, seven in left field, three at third base, two at second base and one at shortstop.

Lombardozzi came to the Pirates this offseason in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles for cash considerations.
