Man Arrested After Chase Ends With A Crash In Strip District

STRIP DISTRICT (KDKA) - A man is in custody and a woman is still on the run, after a police chase ended in a crash in the Strip District Friday morning.

According to the criminal complaint, the chase started in Etna, on Route 28 south.

An on-duty officer spotted a silver Honda doing 70 mph in a 45 mph zone. The vehicle slowed to 60 mph after seeing the officer.

However, when the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver took off.

Police followed the car all the way into the Strip District, where the car slammed into a wooden structure and another car in the 200-block of Penn Avenue around 1 a.m.

Both of the occupants attempted to flee on foot. William Morton, 23, threw a Glock 10mm on the ground before officers caught him. The gun was loaded with 10 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

A woman inside the car may have ran into a nearby bar, but police searched it, and could not find her.

Police interviewed witnesses at the scene, but they still have not tracked down the missing woman.
