Police Recover Sharpsburg Woman's Stolen Scooter, Close In On Suspect

SHARPSBURG (KDKA) -- A woman's stolen motorized scooter was recovered Tuesday afternoon, and now Sharpsburg Police say they are also closing in on a suspect.

Carolyn Krebs had a double knee replacement and needs the scooter to get around.

Surveillance footage from the Kreb's home security system shows the thief stealing it from the family's vehicle and driving it down the street.

Someone spotted it in a wooded area of Lawrenceville on Tuesday.

"Bottom line, we recovered the evidence for the family and that's our priority," Officer Brial Hoebel told KDKA's Kym Gable. "Obviously, we'd like to speak with the gentlemen who took it because we believe he knows we're looking to speak with him. We're not going to quit on something like this."

Krebs says she is incredibly thankful for the dedication of the police department.

"It's only been a few days and they got the scooter back. Being a police officer is a dangerous job, a thankless job. I just want them to know I appreciate everything they've done."
