Pirates Recall Outfielder Jose Tabata

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - With the Pirates in need of another bat on the roster, the team has recalled outfielder Jose Tabata.

In 28 games with the AAA Indianapolis Indians this year, Tabata has hit .352 with two doubles and four RBI while reaching base safely in 14 of his last 15 games while hitting .438.

In 2014, Tabata hit .282 with 5 doubles, 2 triples and 17 RBI in 80-games at the major league level.

In order to make room for Tabata on the major league roster, the team has optioned reliever Wilfredo Boscan back to AAA and transferred infielder Justin Sellers to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster.

Tabata will essentially be filling the role on the roster that outfielder Andrew Lambo was in until he landed on the 15-day DL with plantar fasciitis.
