Pitt Head Coach Hints At Changes Coming To Football Uniforms

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Out with the old and in with the new.

University of Pittsburgh head football coach Pat Narduzzi is hinting that there may be a change with Pitt's uniforms coming in the very near future.

He talked about the possibility with group of Pitt fans and alumni at an event Monday in Washington DC.

Narduzzi said designs for a new uniform were approved by Nike a couple of days ago, and that they will debut for the 2016 season. That's because it takes about a year for uniform changes.

KDKA's Rich Walsh reports the new uniform changes are expected to have a more modern feel, think Oregon, but the Pitt script will be back.

The colors remain the same. There will be three color options - navy blue, Vegas gold and white.

Navy blue will be the primary color for home games, and it will be all-white for road games.

The Panthers plan to use different combinations, mixing and matching. So that would be nine uniform combinations.

Also, there will be an alternate fourth uniform style. Pitt will go back in time with the colors, but it won't look anything like the uniform from the '70s or the throwback one from 2005.

The royal blue and mustard will make an appearance once a year.
