Narcotics Officers, SWAT Conduct Drug Sweep In Mt. Washington & Beltzhoover

MOUNT WASHINGTON (KDKA) - A heavy police presence arrived in Beltzhoover this morning as several agents from the DEA and SWAT surrounded numerous homes to execute search warrants.

For neighbors in the Mount Washington and Beltzhoover area, it wasn't the wakeup call they were expecting.

"I was woken up at around 6:15 this morning to a loudspeaker saying, '304 Kathleen, we have a search warrant for 304 Kathleen,' and there was a bunch of cops in full SWAT gear with rifles," a neighbor said.

Undercover agents from the Pittsburgh Police VICE squad joined the DEA and K-9 unit from Monaca to go inside a man's home.

Neighbors said police blocked off the street for about 40 minutes.

"I don't think anybody could've passed through this area at least. There was a bunch of cars. They had cop cars all over the place. They had SWAT, they had undercover cars with lights going," a neighbor said.

Several boxes of evidence were removed, but the man stayed at his home as police left.

That apparently wasn't the case for two other men who were led by authorities into Pittsburgh Police headquarters in handcuffs.

DEA agents confirmed they were a part of today's drug sweep.

Pittsburgh Police also surrounded a home near the intersection of Boggstown and Warrington Avenues.

A SWAT vehicle was also at that location and at one point, it looked like they were searching the woods.

One person was also seen in the back of a police cruiser.

No other details have been released at this time.
