Boy, 11, Critical After Being Shot By Man With BB Gun

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A man is in jail after police say he shot an 11-year-old boy with a BB gun in McKeesport.

According to police, the incident happened near the former George Washington School playground on in the 1800-block of Summit Street in McKeesport Sunday.

Witnesses told police Albert Clark, 31, entered the playground and fired one time at the boy. When he missed, he fired a second shot, which struck the child in the chest.

The boy fell to the ground and said he couldn't breathe.

"A man coming up with his small child beside him and it looks to me as if he was carrying a rifle," said one witness who didn't want to be identified. "As he walked up to where the other kids were playing, all the kids scattered when they saw the gun. He shouted to the kids, 'It's all right, kids, it's just a BB gun.' Once he saw the child he was looking for, he pointed the gun right to the child's chest and shot him."

According to the criminal complaint, Clark was upset that the victim had previously shot his 5-year-old with a BB.

The neighbor said she overheard Clark say something to the boy just before the incident.

"'You thought I wasn't coming back for you, I told you I'd come back for you. You shot my son yesterday, and now I came back for you today,'" she said. "It's sickening, just sickening around here."

The victim was initially taken to UPMC McKeesport Hospital, but was later flown to Children's Hospital.

He was last listed in critical condition with a BB lodged in his heart.

Clark is facing a list of charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and tampering with evidence.
