Woman, Dog Okay After Becoming Trapped On Hillside

HARRISON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Emergency crews were called in for a hillside rescue in a Harrison Township park Monday afternoon when a woman and her dog got stuck on a cliff more than 30 feet down a hillside.

It happened here at Harrison Hills Park around 1 p.m.

A group was out hiking with their dogs when one of the dogs went down a steep hillside.

The owner went after the dog and that's when both got stuck.

It took rescuers a couple of hours to safely bring up the dog and the unidentified dog owner.

A witness says they were just out for a hike. They've done it many times before, but this is the first time there was trouble.

"We realized after we couldn't get them both back up we needed to call 911. It was unsafe," said Carmelo Hernandez, a witness.

But rescuers made it safe.

Both the woman and her dog are okay, and the woman thanked her rescuers after she got back up the hill.

"Feeling thankful, thank you," she said.
