Teen Arrested In Connection With New Kensington Shooting

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) - A teenager from Penn Hills has been arrested for shooting a man in New Kensington.

The shooting happened around 1 p.m. Wednesday along Kenneth Avenue. A man was shot once in the shoulder and once in each arm.

The victim ran to a nearby house for help, as the shooter fled down an alley and over a fence.

The victim, said to be in his 20s,  was rushed to Valley Junior-Senior High School, where he was flown to the hospital. He was last listed in fair condition.

Wednesday night, police arrested Brandon Jeter, 16, of Penn Hills. He has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and illegally possessing a firearm. Jeter was charged as an adult.

Neighbors along Kenneth Avenue are sick of the violence.

"It's a shame whenever my kids don't even feel safe in their own home," said neighbor Brooke Ives. "There's nothing I can do about it. I'm going to be labeled a snitch.  I don't care, I'm protecting my kids and that's all that matters."

Ives went on to say there has been at least five shootings on her street in the past few months.

"I'm scared," said Ives. "I'm ready to get out of here. I've lived here my entire life here and never had this many problems."
