Catcher Chris Stewart Says Pirates Will Go As Cutch Goes

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Chris Stewart took some time out before Wednesday's afternoon finale against the San Francisco Giants to join the Cook and Poni Show.

Stewart talks about his sudden surge at the plate, but he tells the guys that it's nothing compared to what Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen is doing.

"When he is going, the whole team is going," Stewart said. "It seems like every time he is at the plate, he is going to do something special."

Stewart also talked to the guys about how he and pitcher Gerrit Cole have developed a good relationship and how he has become his personal catcher.

Stewart will sit today behind starter Francisco Cervelli who Stewart says has been a great addition since the departure of last year's starting catcher Russell Martin.

"If he can stay healthy he is a huge asset," Stewart said. "The only thing that he is lacking from Russ may be the power."

Stewart also admits that he has been concerned with all of the foul balls that keep finding him behind the plate.
