Get Marty: Mother Reaches Out To Get Her Obese, Severely Disabled Son Help

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- He's nearly 700 pounds. He has an IQ of 70. His name is Anthony, and his mother is desperate to get him help.

"If my son doesn't get help, he will be dead in two months," says Lisa Dennis.

The frantic Butler County woman reached out to KDKA-TV and Get Marty. Lisa Dennis says her son needs an immediate evaluation by doctors at UPMC.

"Please help my boy!" says Dennis.

Lisa Dennis says her son is diagnosed as severely disabled. She says prior evaluations of his condition have not helped him.

The young man tells KDKA's Marty Griffin he is ridiculed and made fun of.

"I am afraid to go outside. People call me Dumbo and fat," says Anthony.

Anthony says he weighs nearly 700 pounds and would like to lose half of his body weight.

"I am afraid. I don't want to die," says Anthony.

We reached out to UPMC. Within 24 hours of our contact with administrators, Anthony was admitted to Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Oakland.

Anthony will get a complete mental and physical evaluation.

"I am so happy. This may have saved my son's life," says Dennis.

We don't want folks to believe Anthony had no previous medical treatment. The truth is nothing has worked. We are told by UPMC that clinicians at WPIC are working with Anthony now.
