Couple Accused Of Doing Heroin At 3-Year-Old's Birthday Party

CENTER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - An Indiana County couple is accused of doing heroin at a 3-year-old's birthday party.

Police say people at the party at a house on Murray Avenue in Center Township noticed the couple acting strangely.

"It was my daughter's third birthday party," said Lainey Spaid, of Homer City, who was hosting the party. "We had literally in this small trailer anywhere from 20 to 25 children."

During the party, the 26-year-old man and 25-year-old woman entered a bathroom at the home. People at the party suspected some suspicious behavior and forced open the bathroom door.

The man was observed in possession of heroin-related paraphernalia.

"It was a good time till that happened," said Spaid. "My mother-in-law just so happened to notice a little bit of suspicious activity going on in the hallway. She full-on just body slammed the bathroom door open, and walked in. He had his arm tied off and the needle in his arm."

The woman fled the bathroom, knocking over a 2-year-old child in the process. The child wasn't seriously hurt.

"She completely just pushed him down and trampled him getting out of the house," said Spaid.

The male followed leaving evidence in the bathroom.

"They left the needle in there. They left the bags all over my sink, all in my toilet," said Spaid.

The party was over, the children were traumatized and Spaid was crushed.

"It was hard for me 'cause they were my friends. It ripped my heart out. My daughter loves them. It was her birthday," she said.

State police found heroin and heroin paraphernalia when they arrived at the home.

Charges are pending against the couple. State Police continue to investigate.
