Cops: Burrell H.S. Substitute Teacher Sought Nude Pics From Student

LOWER BURRELL, Pa. (KDKA/AP) - A Westmoreland County substitute teacher has been charged with soliciting nude photos from a 17-year-old female student.

Lower Burrell Police say 29-year-old Jamison Geibel, of Gilpin Township, first contacted the girl about mutual interests when he subbed at Burrell High School in 2013.

"I never expected anything like this to occur," said Roseanne Geibel, the suspect's step-grandmother. "It's just not his persona."

The two exchanged emails, but in March and April, investigators say Geibel allegedly started asking for nude pictures of the girl and sending the teen lurid messages over Facebook.

"He should have known better, and I'm very shocked that he even considered doing anything inappropriate," said Roseanne Geibel.

Court documents say the girl sent five such pictures to Geibel via Facebook Messenger, and when word got to school administrators, they called the police. Police say Geibel allegedly admitted to getting the pictures.

He's facing charges of sexual abuse, corruption of a minor and criminal use of cell phone or a computer.

Meanwhile, Geibel's step-grandmother has some advice for the accused.

"He knows what's right and what is wrong," she said. "Straighten your act up. Be the man that you are. Be the man your grandfather thought you were."

Geibel is free on $50,000 straight cash bond.

His next court appearance, a preliminary hearing, is set for June 30.
