Mother Accused Of Leaving Baby In Hot Car Outside Bar Rejects Plea Deal

SOUTH UNION TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A woman accused of leaving her baby inside a hot car outside a Fayette County bar rejected a plea deal today.

45-year-old Tammy Lynn Price is accused of leaving her one-year-old baby unattended in a car seat outside the 19th Hole Bar in South Union Township May 9th.

"It was really hot, really hot and humid. The child appeared to be suffering from a slight bit of heat exposure," State Police Trooper Stefani Lucas said.

According to the criminal complaint, when a trooper when inside to find the child's mother, he found Price inside the bathroom preparing a white powdery substance for ingestion.

Price told police she was riding with a friend who had the keys.

Police had to forcibly remove the keys from that friend to rescue the child, who had been sitting in a closed and hot vehicle for several hours.

Officers say the baby was clammy, and appeared to have been left in there for a long enough time to affect her health.

Today Price appeared before a district magistrate, represented by a public defender.

She was offered a plea deal, but turned it down.

She will now face charges of child endangerment and drug possession.

Troopers say the case was no accident.
