New Rides, Popular Events Here For Big Butler Fair

BUTLER COUNTY (KDKA) -- The Big Butler Fair is even bigger this year, with new rides - like the million-dollar "Khaos."

"The seats go 360 degrees, the center of the pedal is 360 degrees, and the whole center arm goes 360 degrees," says Marc Janas of Great American Midways.

He says it's one of six new rides - like the "Puppy Roll."

"It's four huge dogs that spin in a circle, and it's fun for the whole family. Also, we have 'Pirates Island.' It's a huge play fort. You can slide down it, you can climb, you can crawl."

The "Gator Boys" alligator wrestling shows will be back at the fair again. Jimmy Riffle is a star of the Animal Planet program. He has made a living of wrestling reptiles, as well as protecting them.

"These gators turn up in the weirdest places," he explains. "You know, people's back yards, people's homes. We go in and we catch these alligators, and we don't turn them into boots, handbags, or gator meat. Our main mission is to take them to zoos and sanctuaries where they'll live out the rest of their lives."

Camel rides are a much safer option for Regina Olesnevich and her grandson, Jace. She says taking a spin on the shop of the desert is, in a word or two, "Very bumpy."

The Big Butler Fair continues through July 11. For a list of events, log on to: http://www.bigbutlerfair.com/
