Pittsburghers Gather To Watch Fireworks, Show American Pride

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Fireworks lit up the sky over downtown Pittsburgh Saturday night.

Hundreds of thousands of people crowded into the point, Mt. Washington, the West End overlook and other spots around the city to watch.

Locals were treated to a spectacular show, it's one of the best in the country.

"This means everything to me," said Joshua Moore of Shelocta, Pa. "It's our day to show our appreciation for the country, the greatest country on Earth."

Moore, and his girlfriend Kayla Bressler, were amongst the throng at Heinz Field celebrating the 4th of July.

May people were seen sporting red, white and blue.

"Oh, it's a little something I put together last minute, looking like the American flag," said Denise Dougherty, describing her patriotic ensemble.

The Fourth also meant good food, drink and music.

Lots of people were camped out on the North Shore, as well, to catch a good view of the fireworks.

"We bring all our family down and we watch the fireworks," said Rich Divosevic, who's camped out every year for 25 years. "The kids are going to remember this, soon they'll bring their children down when we're grandparents."
