Brother, Sister Arrested For Assaulting Cops In Point State Park

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Two people were arrested for allegedly assaulting police officers in Point State Park Sunday night.

According to police, the incident began around 8 p.m. when a bystander noticed a juvenile with a gun in his waistband.

While the bystander was trying to point out the male to police, a group of juveniles ran from the park. Included in that group was Ronald Shanks.

A short time later, Shanks attempted to re-enter the park with two other males and was denied entry.

At this time, Shanks began yelling at officers and was placed in handcuffs. Police then called Shanks' mother to come pick him up at the park.

His mother was at work at the time and informed officers that her daughter, Quintayla Moore, would pick up Shanks.

When Moore arrived, Shanks allegedly kneed one officer twice in the right thigh and "donkey kicked" two other officers.

Moore approached the officers and allegedly started swinging her arms. During the exchange, she struck an officer in the arm.

Officers attempted to place Moore in handcuffs, but she resisted arrest. Moore yelled into her cell phone, "Mom, they're arresting me. Help, help."

While struggling with police, Moore fell into some bushes. After several verbal warnings, officers used a Taser on Moore and took her into custody.

She was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital to be checked out before being taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Moore is facing a list of charges including, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Shanks was taken to the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center.
