Attempted Luring Incidents Put Patterson Twp. Community On Edge

PATTERSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Neighbors in Beaver County are on alert after recent reports of attempted child lurings.

The sign welcoming people to Patterson Township says it "safe family community, and that's why folks who live there are shook up about what's been happening.

"Someone tried to get her in their car three different times, and finally he got angry and sped off," said one mom in the township.

The woman, who does not wish to be identified, says her 14-year-old daughter had a frightening experience.

"He said, 'Do you need a ride?' And she said, 'No,'" the girl's mom said. "He said, 'Come on, get in the car,' and she said, 'No, I don't need a ride.' And he goes, 'Come on, just get in the car,' and got more angry."

It happened along Darlington Road about 4 p.m. on July 5. Police were notified of the incident.

"White, she said a little bit younger than myself and her father who are 43," the woman said of her daughter's description of the suspect.

Meanwhile, Patterson Township Police placed some more information on the department's Facebook page, describing a metallic green car, a white male suspect, the location of the attempted luring and a phone number people can call if they have more information, 724-775-0883.

Police also believe there was another similar incident July 10.

Parents are shook up.

"Scary, scary because like I said Patterson is a very close-knit, safe community. We don't even have bars or anything. We have a Kwik Fill and a CoGo's and that's it," the girl's mother said.

Police don't want residents there to panic. They are just asking folks to talk to their children about strangers and call police if they see anything suspicious.
