Former Allegheny Co. Coroner Questions Kurt Cobain's Death As Suicide In New Film

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Dr. Cyril Wecht is right in the middle of another controversial case.

This time, the forensic pathologist taking a look at the death of former Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain.

"This was more likely a homicide than a suicide," says Wecht.

Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home in 1994. The singer's death ruled a suicide.

"It just doesn't fit," says Wecht.

Dr. Wecht was called in as part of a documentary film called "Soaked In Bleach."

The movie is screening in Dormont tonight. The film was written and directed by a Morgantown, W.Va. native who now lives in Upper St. Clair.

The film focuses on the death scene.

Dr. Wecht says Cobain has enough heroin in his system to kill five people.

"All of the drug paraphernalia was put in a cigar box. Everything was placed back in the cigar box. Cobain then proceeds to take a shotgun and kill himself?" says Wecht. "It's highly unlikely."

Courtney Love, the grunge singer's ex-wife, has tried to stop the release of the movie but couldn't. Love claims assertions in the movie that she was somehow involved in Cobain's death are a lie.
