Slide For Sale: Scott Twp. Puts Pool Slide Up For Auction

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- What would you pay for a swimming pool slide? That's what Scott Township officials hope to find out.

The slide at the township pool is up for sale on a government auction site called https://www.municibid.com/Listing/Details/5453352Municibid.

They hope to raise $20,000, to make a dent in the $3 million price tag for a new pool.

"The pool was first built in 1968, and it's been needing upgrades and repairs," says public services director Randy Lubin. "So we formed a committee, and felt it was time to modernize and put in a new pool. And the new pool will be larger."

The new is set to open Memorial day. It will also have new features, like a climbing wall.

The current slide is 140 feet long and 21 feet tall. It was state of the art when it was installed in 1995.

"I remember when it first came in, it had lines of people just waiting and waiting and wanting to use it, and it continued every day; there's always a line of kids that are really excited to go on it," says pool manager Monica Gigliotti.

Randy Lubin says it will be replaced by two slides.

"One being a little bit shorter, one being similar to what we have now."

Two slides are better than one, any day.
