Man Taken Into Custody In Connection With Crash That Killed Ligonier Twp. Officer

A man has been taken into custody in connection with a crash that killed a Ligonier Township Police lieutenant earlier this year.

On May 5, Lt. Eric Eslary, 40, was killed when his patrol SUV was hit by a van driving the wrong way on Route 30 shortly before 2 a.m.

Today, Clair Fink III was taken into custody.

Investigators found an empty 16-ounce beer can in the eastbound lane of the road at the crash scene, and another can was found in Fink's van.

Police Seek Suspect After Fatal Shooting In Wilkinsburg

Police are investigating after 32-year-old Kelvaughn Hawthorne was shot and killed in Wilkinsburg Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 4:30 p.m., in front of a corner store in the 1800-block of Montier Street.

Police are video surveillance from a nearby store will help in the case.

Double Shooting In The Hill District Leaves 1 Man Dead

A shooting in the Hill District left one man dead an another critically injured early Thursday morning.

Shots rang out around 12:45 a.m. in the 200-block of Lombard Street.

Donald Harris Jr., 20, was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old man was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. He was last listed in critical condition.

No arrests have been made.

Missing Nurse Whose Body Was Found In Ohio River Had Drowned
Information via Associated Press

An autopsy shows a Pittsburgh nurse who went missing after leaving a bar with friends in December had drowned.

That's where 22-year-old Paul Kochu's body was found in the Ohio River in March.

Pittsburgh police say the medical examiner found nothing suspicious about Kochu's death, and police don't plan to investigate it further.
