Carrick Burger King Robbed At Gunpoint

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are looking for two men who robbed the Burger King in Carrick at gunpoint.

The burger king on Brownsville Road in Carrick is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. But it was around 2 a.m. Friday morning when police say the place was robbed.

"Investigators found that two black actors walked into the Burger King and jumped over the front counter," said Emily Schaffer, the assistant public information officer for the city's Public Safety Department.

Police say both men are about 5-feet-10-inches tall and between the ages of 18 to 30.

One wore a red hooded sweatshirt and khaki pants. The other guy wore a white shirt, black jeans and red shoes. One of them was armed.

"One actor pointed a gun at one of the employees and demanded money from the safe; the other actor demanded all the other employees to get on the ground," said Schaffer.

Those eating at the fast food restaurant on Friday afternoon told KDKA's Brenda Waters that they have suspicions about who may be behind the robbery.

"Sounds to me like it was a previous employee, if they knew there was a safe there. I didn't know there was a safe there," said customer Robin Welsh.

"Well, obviously, that sounds like an inside job," said Les Cager, another customer. "First of all, because if anyone was to rob somebody, they are not gonna say, 'Give me the money in the safe.' They would want a quick get it and hit it and go."

The suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt during the robbery.

Police say the case is still open and ask if anyone knows anything to call the Pittsburgh Police Robbery Squad at 412-323-7151.
