Wash. Co. Man Accused Of Threatening To Kill Wife, Striking Boy In Face

DEEMSTON BOROUGH (KDKA) – This isn't the first time Aaron Mock, 40, has been in trouble with the law for harassment and simple assault.

In the wee hours of the morning on Sunday, police say Mock was arrested for assaulting his wife and 10-year-old son.

The affidavit says Mock's 14-year-old daughter managed to escape the home in Deemston Borough, Washington County through a basement door and called 911.

She told dispatch her father had a handgun.

"Upon arrival they surrounded the home they were able to have the actor come out of the house," Tpr. Matthew Jardine of the Pennsylvania State Police Washington Barracks said.

Then, he was taken to jail.

"Basically what he did inside that residence is he threatened to kill some family members and keep them from leaving the residence," Jardine said.

When police questioned Mock's 14-year-old daughter, she told police her dad struck her mother several times in the face. She says she managed to escape while her dad was hitting her 10-year-old brother.

The 10-year-old boy told police Mock hit him four times in the face and the right side of his neck with an open hand. After some reluctance, Mock's wife also told police what happened.

She admitted that he struck her several times in the face then threatened his own life and hers.
After more resistance, she told police Mock was about to have back surgery.

She also said they've had ongoing marital problems and their fight stemmed from a verbal argument on the way home from a birthday party a few hours earlier.

"Domestic violence is a big problem so anytime there's a threat of violence there's a handgun involved. The people involved in those situations can be expected to be arrested and arraigned immediately and taken to jail," Jardine said.

Neighbors told KDKA's Amy Wadas spoke with say they heard Mock and his wife fight on occasion, but they never expected to see Mock go to jail for allegedly threatening his wife and kids.

Police recovered a .22 caliber handgun from the home. Mock is in jail facing multiple charges including unlawful restraint, harassment and simple assault.
