Tomlin: Expect All Healthy Men To Play On Friday

LATROBE – (93.7 The Fan) – The Steelers travel to Jacksonville on Friday for the second game of the preseason and Mike Tomlin says all of the healthy men will play.

"How much they play will be determined positionally not only in terms of what some of the established guys need to see but the quality or the amount of depth behind them," Tomlin said.

Players that will not play due to injuries include, Robert Golden, Bruce Gradkowski, Dan McCullers, Ross Ventrone, Senquez Golson, Vince Williams and Mike Adams.

The Steelers lost 14-3 to the Vikings in the preseason opener and Tomlin says he is looking for improvements against the Jaguars, especially from the young guys.

"It's going to be interesting to see how they respond to some of the corrections made and some of the attention to detail things that were pointed out based on our last performance which was a negative one based on some instances," Tomlin said.

Rookie tight end Jesse James is one of those guys that Tomlin would like to see do better the second time around. James had some trouble catching the ball against the Vikings but Tomlin said it's common for young guys to freeze up and it's all part of the process.

Shaun Suisham underwent ACL reconstruction today but Tomlin does not yet have an update on his status.

He said he is already getting to know Suisham's replacement kicker, Garrett Hartley and he's looking forward to watching him kick some field goals at practice Wednesday evening.
