Woman Charged With Fabricating Car Wash Robbery Story

MOUNT PLEASANT (KDKA) – A woman who claims she was robbed at a Westmoreland County car wash is facing charges for fabricating the story.

In shackles and police custody, 34-year-old Bonnie Wilson wasn't happy to see TV cameras Wednesday afternoon as she headed into court.

But just last week, Wilson told police she and her 12-year-old daughter had been robbed at gunpoint at the Diamond Street Car Wash in Mount Pleasant.

"He's like, 'If you're not going to give me the money, I'm going to take it from you,'" Wilson told KDKA last week. "And that's when he pulled out the gun."

Despite their doubts, police arrested 35-year-old Michael Pilato of Scottdale and charged him with robbery. Now, police say it was actually a drug deal that went awry.

"We believe that he did go to the car wash to complete a drug transaction, heroin was involved," said Mount Pleasant Police Chief Douglas Sam. "Even though there was physical abuse, we believe that was inflicted by her boyfriend."

Police say Wilson's boyfriend, Luke Trimmer, punched her to make it look like she'd been assaulted. Trimmer hasn't been charged and wouldn't talk to KDKA's Paul Martino.

Meantime, it was Wilson's 12-year-old daughter who turned her in.

Martino: "Did you bring your daughter to a heroin deal?"

Wilson: "No."

Martino: "Was there heroin involved?"

Wilson: "No. My daughter changed her story three times."

For now, police believe the daughter's story. They've charged Wilson with selling drugs, lying to police and endangering her daughter.
