Local Fans Snatch Up New "Star Wars" Toys On "Force Friday"

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- At 12:01 a.m. on Friday, stores all over the country invited customers to visit shelves packed with "Star Wars" merchandise.

"Force Friday" is a prelude to the seventh "Star Wars" film, which enters theaters in mid-December.

Tara Siranovic, assistant manager of Walmart in Robinson Township, says the department store chain is packed with toys and other items.

"Walmart has about 500 Star Wars items available, and thousands more available online. We offer our customers a wide variety of Star Wars merchandise, from toys to electronics to apparel. We even have Star Wars soup," says Siranovic.

"My grandson, he's 11, and loves Legos," a grandmother says. "Really into those, and Star Wars, of course. Put them together, and you've got the perfect thing for him."

There's a Darth Vader figure that speaks.

The first series of three movies consisted of episodes four, five and six. The second group was one, two and three. So that means the new movie starts a series of seven, eight and nine. Confusing? Fans don't seem to mind.

Debbie Uhl shares childhood memories with her grandson.

"I can't wait till he's old enough to watch them, so he can see the old ones," she says. "The way Grandma used to do things."
