Nearly 300 Women Take Part In Steelers' Ladies Night Out Event

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off an impressive win over the San Francisco 49ers at Heinz Field.

On Monday, some of the team's biggest fans had a chance to take to the field for the action-packed ladies night out.

Nearly 300 loyal fans, all women, packed Heinz Field to work out with some former Steelers.

"I wear this outfit to the bar every game. I have a different shirt, white or black," Marlene Campen said.

Campen was ready to learn more about the game and showed up fully equipped with six Super Bowl rings, a helmet and even some eye-black.

Former Steelers Craig Wolfley, Chris Hoke and Mike Logan were coaching the women and they were quick to offer up some great advice.

"Fat is where it's at. The big guys up front is where it all gets done, it's those guys that get it done," Wolfley said.

Current Steelers William Gay and Stephon Tuitt spoke to the ladies before practice, but the real fun was on the field.

They got to catch passes from Logan and Hoke, and learned how to line up on both sides of the ball.

It was a once in a lifetime experience for many of these die-hard Steelers fans.

"I think it's great that the Steelers allow fans to participate. It's not something everyone gets a chance," Steffanie Jasper said. "You watch them every Sunday, you don't realize or understand the skill, so this is just a lot of fun."

"I didn't know what to expect, but we're having a blast. It's been exciting, anywhere other than peanut heaven here at Heinz Field. I just feel really awesome," Jean Benny said.

This annual event is sponsored by Magee Women's Hospital. Close to 300 women attended last night's event.
