Pop-Up Fashion Shops Bring Fashionistas To Market Square

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Downtowners with a passion for fashion found a lot to like in Market Square during the Tuesday lunch hour. Celebrating Fashion Week, it was the twice yearly "Pop Up Fashion Market."

Fifteen vendors of appropriate apparel set up shop on a perfect day for browsing and buying.

Jeremy Waldrup is president of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, which has succeeded once again in making Market Square fashionable.

"We do about 200 programming events Downtown throughout the year," he said. "So this is just one of the many things we have going on, throughout the city."

While most vendors bring their merchandise to the square, Marissa Zimmerman of Monongahela showed up with her entire store. The "Vintage Valet" is a mobile boutique.

"I do not have a brick and mortar location," she said. "I just drive down here to different events going on in the city, and you can shop right in my truck. My truck is my store."

One of her customers, office worker Terri Pollock, is a pop-up fashion fan.

"I like it because I like to shop at lunch, and there is nowhere to shop. I could be here every day, and I would be happy. My husband wouldn't be, but I would be," she says.
