PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Some wedding dresses get passed down for one or two generations – but what about for more than a century?

One Pennsylvania woman is the 11th person in her family to wear a dress that’s been passed down for 120 years, reports LehighValleyLive.com.

However, Abigail Kingston of Bethlehem, Pa. had to have the dress heavily altered before being able to wear it because of its decaying state.

“It is a magical wedding dress because she is the 11th bride to wear it,” Kingston’s mother told the site.

Kingston tells LehighValleyLive.com that the parts of the dress had holes and were disintegrating, as well as discolored. It took 200 hours of work to make it wearable again.

The first bride wore the dress back in 1895. Kingston will wear it at her wedding in Perkasie, Bucks County on Oct. 17.
