Runners Cross Finish Line Of 2015 Great Race

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Thousands of athletes took to the streets of Pittsburgh this Sunday morning to participate in the 38th Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race!

The 5K event began at 8 a.m., while the 10K event started at 9:30 a.m.

The 10K began in Frick Park at Beechwood Boulevard, and then traveled along Forbes Avenue, Fifth Avenue and Boulevard of the Allies before finishing in Point State Park.

Meanwhile, the 5K started at Fifth Avenue and Atwood Street in Oakland and followed the same route as the 10K.

The top female runners were 32-year-old Lisa Burnett of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, who finished the 5K in 18:17, and 28-year-old Clara Santucci of Dilliner, Pennsylvania, who finished the 10K in 33:00.

The top male runners were 33-year-old Clay Burnett of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, who finished the 5K in 14:32, and 23-year-old Samuel Mueller of Auburn, Alabama, who finished the 10K in 31:23.

In the 10K handcycle race, 47-year-old Claire Zorn of Pittsburgh finished in 37:53 and 47-year-old Attila Domos of Pittsburgh who finished in 18:30.

City officials say 14,000 participants took part in race this year, including 10,418 for the 10K run and 3,844 for the 5K run/walk.
